Return of the Marxist

Thursday, July 1, 2004

Funny, the things leftists say when they're in a leftist town surrounded by fellow travelers.
Hillary Clinton, erstwhile first lady, current U.S. senator representing New York and probable future presidential candidate, cut loose in San Francisco Monday night at a fund-raiser for Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif.

"Many of you are well enough off that ... the (Bush) tax cuts may have helped you," Mrs. Clinton said. "We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to have to cut that short and not give it to you."

Should Democrats win the White House and gain control of Congress, "We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good," she said.

Or as Karl Marx would have put it, "In a higher phase of communist society ... only then can the narrow horizon of bourgeois right be fully left behind and society inscribe on its banners: from each according to his ability, to each according to his need."

We are not surprised at Hillary's comments; her Marxist roots are well documented. Neither are we surprised by the matter-of-fact reportage of said remarks; it is indicative of some of the media's ignorance of the philosophical origins of Mrs. Clinton's sentiments, or the manifestation of the rest of the media's equally well-documented socialist agenda.

That said, more is the pity -- on all counts.
